Mint Julep Brownies for your Kentucky Derby Party

Coming up with the menu for your Kentucky Derby party is probably one of the most important parts of your party.

With the actual race lasting two minutes, food will be a critical part of entertaining your guests.

These Mint Julep Brownies with Candied Pecans have a hint of mint and bourbon that creates a very interesting and addicting depth of flavor and would be a yummy addition to your menu.

Monday, March 18th, 2013

OMG! Who’s been keeping this secret!  I love garlic and peeling it is the least fun part of cooking, not to mention the time it takes to do it.  Peeling an entire head of garlic in less than 10 seconds is a secret no longer.  Pass this along, pin it, post it and tweet it to all your friends!

Cajun Shrimp Casserole

If you are searching for recipes for Mardi Gras or if you just love shrimp, you’ll love this incredible seafood casserole that is spicy, cheesy and filled with shrimp.  I don’t care for okra, so I only used about a cup in mine, just enough to be able to ignore it was there. If you like cheese, put extra on the table for guests to add more if they wish.

Valentine's Day Pink Brownies

I LOVE brownies and pink brownies for Valentine’s Day are an unexpected twist friends and kids will love.

1 box strawberry cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup oil

Mix ingredients together and spread in a greased 9″ x 13″ pan.  The dough will be thick and will spread thin in the pan. Bake at 350 for 14 minutes and test for doneness by a toothpick inserted in the center coming out clean. For pink brownie glaze, mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons milk or water. Pour over warm brownies.  Enjoy!

Please come back and leave us a comment if you made these…we’d love to hear from you!

A winter salad that is as pretty as it is tasty and healthy. This makes a great lunch, dinner or a beautiful salad to take to a pot luck or get together. I’m thinking about making it for our Super Bowl party.

Balsamic Pot Roast

For the first time ever, my husband and I are staying “home alone” for New Year’s Eve. Next question was do we make dinner, order out or go out. We decided to make this fabulous Balsamic Pot Roast and we’re counting on having left overs to make Roast Beef Sandwiches tomorrow while we watch football.
