What are Wedding Save the Date Cards?

Save the Date Cards inform guests of your wedding date, time and location so they can mark their calendars to attend your wedding celebration. You can send out Save the Date cards any time before your wedding and as they are sent separately, you can choose to match your wedding colors, reflect your wedding location, or even the time of year.

Generally, save the date cards include simple information such as the date; the full name of the bride and groom and the location of the wedding. If you have out of town guests, you can include information on local hotels, attractions or other travel details. If you have a website, you can include a link where invited guests can find more in-depth wedding information. While it may be tempting to include your registry information, please refrain. It is acceptable to post registry information on your wedding website.

Do not use "no children" or any form thereof on your save the date cards or invitations. The names of invited guests are written on the save the date envelope and on the inside envelope of your wedding invitation. If children are not invited, address the save the date cards to "Mr. & Mrs. John Smith." To include children, add their name(s) to the front of the envelope, "Mr. & Mrs. John Smith and Jessica Smith." Children over 16 should receive their own save the date card addressed to "Mr. Jason Smith" or "Mr. Jason Smith and Guest."
