Amazing Pecan Pralines Recipe

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

I love pralines!  Every fall, I swear I am going to make them and this year I just might succeed with this fabulous recipe.

Recipe for Pecan Pralines

Pralines were first created in the 1700′s by a French chef for the French diplomat Cesar du Plessis-Praslin. They were first created using from almonds that were coated with a cooked syrupy sugar. When a New Orleanian businessman brought some home from Paris his cook substituted plentiful pecans for the almonds and heavy cream to thicken the candy.

Fruit in Waffle Cones

Saturday, July 7th, 2012

With so much fresh fruit in season, I’m always looking for creative ways to serve it. I love the idea of serving it in ice cream waffle cones!

The waffle cones make an elegant display for a party or a fun treat for your family. Makes me think of other things that would be great in these cones – pudding, strawberry shortcake, brownies and ice cream…

Check out our I’ve Got a Secret Fruit Salad recipe for filling the cones.

Boy Baby Shower Motorcycle of Diapers Centerpiece

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

A cute centerpiece for a baby shower, this motorcycle is made from diapers, a baby bottle and other cute baby items. The best part about this baby shower centerpiece is that the new mommy gets to take it home. You could make one for each party table and add balloons in your party colors to increase their height and add some more pizzazz.

Picnic Table Drink Cooler Idea

How fun is this? A creative, convenient way to serve and chill wine, beer or soda at your next outdoor party involves a wine gutter and a picnic table. This picnic table was designed by Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects and features a built-in galvanized steel gutter down the center of the table. Fill with ice and you have a bona fide, handy-dandy drink cooler at your fingertips!

Mini Rice Krispie Treats Ice Cream Cones

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

Rice Crispie Ice Cream Cones

Here’s a cute idea for treats or for a child’s birthday party. The ice cream cones are teeny, tiny – about 1-.75″ tall (Joy Kids Cones from Walmart).

A cookie scoop or small melon baller is used to form the ice cream from the Rice Krispie mixture, then drizzled with melted almond bark or candy melts.  To make the cones more stable, you can put some candy in the cone, then use the candy melts to “glue” the scoop to the cone.  See tutorial at Cute As a Fox.
